Do this

1. Tv 1/250 — people walk, and 1/250 freezes walking. Camera handles the rest.
2. Fold the screen out and shoot from chest height. Less intrusive, and a more interesting angle.
3. Close portraits of strangers: ask. A smile and a raised camera is a question everyone understands.
4. Look for one colour, one face, one gesture. Markets are chaos; your job is to find the one thing.

If it goes wrong

Too dark under awnings

Let ISO climb. Or find the edge where shade meets sun — that's where the light is good.
